Chai Biskut Productions
Chai Biskut Productions is a gag name I use for silly home videos I make. I was looking for a name to underline that the production is a light hearted, silly, homely thing – sort of ridiculing the film-making that runs in the family. For all that matters, I shared the roof with Dwarkadas Divecha, award-winning camera-person for the mega movie Sholey; my grandpa, Kapil Divecha is a sound recording engineer for innumerable Bollywood movies and my dad, Hemant Divecha, has been into making daytime soap operas in Mumbai as far as memory goes.
Another inspiration that I should mention is background music director Mahesh Naik. I used to share an editing suite while learning post production in Mumbai as a teen. He is a humorous, responsible gentleman with whom I have spent contless hours learning to create TV magic through editing video to background music. Vedavati’s 1990s Bollywood Soap operatic editing style is a tribute and parody of TV soaps of those times.
The common denominator for Tea time in India is Chai and Biscuits (pronounced Bis koot). It summerizes the hopes, aspirations and desires of the common middle class Indian that comes home after a long day of work.
